Am I a candidate for permanent make up treatment?

Am I a candidate for PMU treatments?

Permanent make-up treatments potentially have a really wide applicability and growing popularity. However, there are situations, that is, reasons why it is sometimes necessary to say no to  a client. Yes, you read that right – work ethics, in this case, the client’s health, comes first.
To remind you, permanent makeup is a type of tattooing, which uses different techniques to introduce pigment into the skin with a semi-permanent effect. How, with what? The pigment is introduced with a knife composed of a series of needles or with a single needle, depending on the technique. The needle introduces the pigment between the epidermis and the dermis, which would mean that we are penetrating the skin. This would further mean that we come into contact with blood, and this significantly determines our approach to the client and hygiene.

This topic is important both to clients and to those who perform permanent makeup treatment.

Taking into account the method of performing the treatment, the health status of the client and the current condition of the skin, permanent makeup treatments are NOT recommended to in the following cases

• in the process of chemotherapy or radio therapy (the treatment can be performed after the end of the therapy after consultations with a doctor)

• with a more severe form of diabetes (difficult wound healing)

• those who suffer from hemophilia (harder blood clotting)

• under anticoagulant therapy for more than 6 months (medicines which prevent blood clotting)

• under antibiotic therapy (the skin sees the pigment as a foreign body and tends to expel it)

• over keloid (bulging) scars

• people with eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne in the inflammatory phase

• pregnant women (due to hormonal imbalance)

• people who had botox treatment 2 to 3 weeks before

• to people who had a permanent make-up removal treatment on the same region less than a month and a half ago

• people who have consumed alcohol in the previous 24 hours due to hypersensitivity

Additional note: avoid moles and capillaries when working!

In order for both the client and the PMU artist to have as much important information as possible about the performance of the treatment, my suggestion is always to have a consultation before the appointment and filling out a questionnaire about the client’s health condition and habits before the treatment itself. I cannot stress enough how important it is to adhere to these criteria.

Clients, always be completely honest with the person who is to perform your treatment – you are doing it in your own interest. No form of aesthetics is more important than health.

Colleagues, I want to believe that we all adhere to work ethics and put the health of the client as a priority. It can only help us to gain confidence and have better results.

Permanent make-up is here to emphasize natural beauty, facilitate daily make-up and solve certain irregularities in the regions of the lips, eyebrows and eyelids. Let’s be careful and enjoy its benefits.
